The category manager provides leadership that drives total store results with specific ownership of an assigned merchandise category(ies). The category manager drives results by developing and executing short term action plans and long term strategies. The category manager is responsible for driving results in the assigned category(ies) by creating an excellent customer and associate experience and by leading all daily activities.
Delivers a best-in-class, captivating, branded customer experience that builds loyalty and enables consistent sales and profit growth:
o Fosters a customer-centric culture, where the full energy and activity of the store team are focused on delivering highly satisfying customer experiences
o Serves on Sales Leadership Team and is responsible for total store results
o Owns results for assigned category(ies)
o Maximizes sales potential by spending 80% of scheduled time on the sales floor
o Demonstrates excellent customer sales lead (CSL) behaviors
- $1-4M: 10-12 segments per week
- $4-8M: 8-10 segments per week
- $8-15M: 4-6 non-peak segments per week
- $15-30M: 2-6 non-peak segments per week
o Supports, models and enhances all selling and sales support behaviors to ensure a seamless customer experience
o Leads Best at Bras initiatives with a focus on current selling strategies
o Gains business insight for assigned category(ies) and creates SMART action plans that improve execution
and results
o Analyzes customer experience reports and insights and mobilizes the team accordingly
o Displays expert product knowledge of assigned category(ies) and general knowledge of all categories
o Strategizes and plans floorsets to effectively impact and optimize assigned category(ies) results
o Partners with brand delivery team to plan brand guides and initiate floor moves as needed
o Develops and executes compelling visual merchandising strategies and presentation standards for
assigned category(ies)
o Understands, adheres to and reinforces brand standards
o Conducts CSL and associate observations and provides feedback and coaching
o Supports optimization of the labor schedule by ensuring appropriate associate skills and availability
o Ensures payroll is managed daily by punch guarding and executing flex worksheet
o Drives customer loyalty through current brand strategies, including credit and customer relationship marketing
o Supports execution of Emerging Concepts in accordance with brand guidelines
o Manages and resolves customer relations issues
o Partners with Sales Leadership Team to identify and resolve all maintenance and housekeeping issues
o Reinforces all activities related to providing a safe working environment
o Supports development and implementation of store strategy to reduce shrink
o Creates an awareness of and builds capabilities in loss prevention by fostering a culture of honesty and connecting the links between customer service, associate engagement and shrink
Builds a high performance team:
o Attracts, recruits and hires highly qualified supervisors, bra specialists and sales associates
o Owns talent management lifecycle of direct reports including onboarding, assessment, retention, career development, succession planning and recognition
o Builds associate connectivity with direct reports
o Manages associate relations of direct reports
o Identifies hiring needs in partnership with Sales Leadership Team
o Partners with direct manager to establish clear performance goals and objectives for direct reports
o Ensures high quality execution and facilitation of sales education materials and selling strategies
o Builds visual merchandising presentation capabilities with category team through onboarding, coaching and dedicated workshops and training events
o Communicates effectively with Sales Leadership Team, associates and peers, including cascading relevant information to direct reports
o Understands and demonstrates Limited Brands' values
Takes responsibility for the following metrics, in addition to performance evaluation criteria and supporting key total store metrics:
o Category and key item/launch sales percent to plan
o Conversion
o Retention
o Knowledge of sales associates
o Bras percent to plan
o Fitting room experience
o Coupon conversion
