Shocking! A raped girl's dilemma - A woman's Issue Story

Raped and Impregnated at 14, Girl Must Now Share Parental Rights with Her Attacker Rapist's paternity rights locks victim into 16-year relationship with him. August 21, 2013 | BOSTON (CN) - A rape victim sued Massachusetts to stop it from subjecting her to "a court-ordered 16-year unwanted relationship with her attacker" by giving him paternity rights over the child born from the rape. H.T., of Norwood, Mass., sued the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Federal Court. "The plaintiff, a rape victim in a state criminal matter, became pregnant in 2009 at age 14 as a result of the crime and gave birth to her attacker's child," the lawsuit states. "The defendant in the state criminal proceeding, age 20 at the time of the impregnation, was convicted of rape in 2011 and was sentenced to 16 years probation. Conditions of probation include an order that he initiate proceedings in family court and comply with that court's orders until the child reaches adulthood. The plaintiff here seeks to enjoin enforcement of so much of the state court's order as violates her federal rights by binding her to an unwanted 16-year legal relationship with her rapist." Edmonton Sheriff maltreated a tiny woman - Police Brutality -

A Camrose dentist says she was battered and beat up during a physical and sexual assault, after an Alberta sheriff pulled her over on the highway earlier this month.
Simona Tibu, 41, told the Edmonton Journal she was driving to her office in Edmonton from her Camrose home on Aug. 3 when an officer on a motorcycle pulled her over on Highway 21 for speeding.
She told Global News the sheriff violently hit the driver's side window of the car when he approached, and when she rolled down the window Tibu told him she would not produce her license and registration if he continued to hit her car.
She says she also told him she would begin filming him on her phone if he hit the car again.
“At that moment, he became very violent. He took his hands through my window, hit my right hand, where I have bruises on it, smashed my cell phone out of my hands, and told me… ‘Get out of your car now.'" Tibu alleges.
She told the Journal when she got out of the car the sheriff ordered her to stand against the trunk of the car, where he allegedly began to hit her in the breasts and push his groin into her backside.

Immigrants helping each other inspite of the odds

Thanks to Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard for sharing this story
The Newcomer Youth Educational Support Services provides summer education for new immigrants so that they have a better chance to do well. These are children who have come to Winnipeg with varied educational backgrounds. Too often, immigrant youth fall behind in the summer. This program allows them to stay engaged in education, and to have a good time as well. This is the help they need. The team at NYESS kept things together and even with major challenges, they found a way to succeed. As Karen said, at the windup Celebration this evening, "When there was no way, we found a way." Congratulations to Karen Koroma and the rest of the team at NYESS. Below are some photos from the celebration tonight.

The Plight of Abused Women In Pakistan

Barbaric animals called men disfigure their women who may not want to put up with their abuse. The men - if I can't have you no other man will - and they throw acid of women. I think the government of Pakistan and other countries where this practice is happening they should institute a policy that men who disfigure women in this way their punishment will be acid thrown in their faces by the state. It is not fair that the men go on living with their good faces while they make monster women from normal beautiful women because they want to own and control women. What cowards these men are? I would not even call them men or human because there are standards to being human and this is not one of them. These men are worse than animals and should never be allowed back in society. WARNING: The picture in this article are disturbing and graphic. http://freethoughtblogs.com/taslima/2012/07/14/our-men-throw-acid-in-our-faces-destroy-our-lives-but-we-never-stop-loving-men/
