Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Post-secondary degree in the Social or Health Sciences or related discipline.  An equivalent combination of related experience and education within the Multiculturalism and Immigration field may be considered.
  • Considerable experience working within the Multiculturalism and Immigration field.
  • Knowledge of Multiculturalism legislation, policies and objectives, anti-racism, and cultural diversity.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Ethnocultural communities.
  • Experience with conducting presentations, community engagement, and the ability to work with a variety of people, groups, and levels of governments.
  • Experience in developing briefing materials, submissions or reports.
  • Experience in public policy and program development, research, analysis and evaluation, including the development and application of program performance measures.
  • Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent team player and leadership skills with the ability to think analytically.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated political acumen.
 
Desired:
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in managing professional staff.
Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, the Director of the Multiculturalism Secretariat is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the Manitoba government relating to policy development, programs and services in support of Multiculturalism, diversity, anti-racism and citizenship in accordance with the obligations of the Manitoba Multiculturalism and Manitoba Ethnocultural Advisory and Advocacy Acts, as well as the priorities of government and communities.  The Director is accountable for the overall planning and management of the Secretariat resources, including financial and human resources and expertise to facilitate and advance recognition, understanding and implementation of multiculturalism, anti-racism and citizenship.
