Thanks to so many of you for making our launch of the Winnipeg Chapter for the National Committee for UN Women Canada such a success. It was special to have Madam Justice Deborah McCawley speak on Why UN Women, and Almas Jiwani tell us more about UN Women - its purpose and plans. Both these presentations are on our web site at http://winnipegchapter.unwomencanada.org/. Our Winnipeg Chapter donated $1,000.00 towards UN Women - to show our support for this new United Nation's agency that has a big challenge ahead.
Plan now on joining us for our June meeting - it will be June 20th, Monday, at 7:00. We hold our meetings at the University Women's Club, 54 West Gate - they have made us very welcome all these years. We hope to see some our new members come out, to learn more about UN Women, and the role our Chapter can play.
The program will feature an interesting panel, and discussion: The Women's Movement: Past, Present and Future. Ariana Yaftali will be the moderator, and Muriel Smith, Mary Scott, and Jodie Layne (from REBelles) will be the presenters. Each will speak from their experience and knowledge - should be interesting - and time to share your thoughts and stories too.
