Sales Representative

Full Time Employment Opportunity
Reporting to Director, Sales, the Sales Representative, Events is responsible for selling hospitality services to achieve revenue goals for the Club Regent Casino Event Centre and multiple-purpose rooms (MPRs). The incumbent will drive sales, solicit new business and assist in the marketing and promotion of these facilities. Position duties include cold calls, telephoning sales leads, and dealing with walk-ins and referrals. The incumbent’s time will be split between working in the community generating contacts, and seeking sales opportunities and generating business by placing cold calls via telephone.
Duties:
  • Generate sales leads via cold calls, walk-ins, referrals and telephone inquiries.
  • Participate in trade shows and other community-related sales activities.
  • Conduct site tours with prospective clients, selling benefits of facility and addressing concerns in an effort to close sales.
  • Assess customer requirements in relation to the facility and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries’ policy and procedures, and seek ways to meet needs while adhering to same.
  • Consult with client on event planning – theme, menu, activities, etc. Document detailed requirements regarding catering, audio-visual, room set-up, bar service needs, etc, as well as add-ons such as concert tickets.
  • Create and manage a “sales leads” database.
  • Create relevant sales reports and tracking tools.
  • Actively participate in related industry associations and organizations to develop network of clients and industry peers.
  • Research and assist in the development of casino-driven promotional campaigns targeted at specific markets – geographic areas; industry/service sectors, etc.  Develop sales tools (flyers, signage), procedures, rules & regulations relating to sales campaigns and initiatives.
  • Liaise with Food & Beverage Services to develop customized promotional initiatives, customized menu proposals for clients, etc. and to ensure all relevant issues are addressed (pricing, smooth delivery of initiatives, etc.).
  • Participate in weekly meetings to review productivity and discuss future initiatives.
  • Coordinate involvement in sponsored events in conjunction with Marketing and Community Support.
  • Attend weekly Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Travel may be required to attend training and National Trade Shows.

Primary Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Grade XII High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the hospitality and/or sales/marketing field, with an emphasis on the food and beverage industry.
  • Formal courses in tourism/hospitality or sales.
  • Demonstrated experience working with catered events.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, strong initiative and ability as a self-starter.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License.

Secondary Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (French/English) language skills.
  • Working knowledge of Corel Draw and Functions Breeze.
