Diversity Initiatives Coordinator

Duties: Reporting to the Manager of the Diversity and Immigrant Student Support Department, the Diversity Initiatives Coordinator provides strategic leadership and operational management of the College-wide Intercultural Training Program and LGBTT* (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit) Initiative. The Diversity Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of these two programs across College campuses, including: program planning and implementation; development and delivery of training sessions, sourcing and hiring external facilitators; development of learning handouts and online learning sites; communication and promotional materials; program support and administration, including budget management; events and stewardship; program evaluation and reporting. The incumbent will be expected to effectively collaborate and communicate with all areas of the College, ethno-cultural and community organizations, and LGBTT* service and advocacy agencies.
Qualifications:
Required:
An undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Communication studies, or Education. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Several years of relevant experience working with newcomers or LGBTT* individuals in an educational institution, social or settlement service, or community organization
 Experience in the development and implementation of learning programs and resources
Experience in developing and facilitating workshops and training related to: intercultural and diversity awareness; College and Canadian workplace culture; managing cross-cultural challenges; working in multi-cultural teams; and developing inclusive environments
 Experience in addressing the barriers and challenges newcomers face in both academic and workplace environments
Demonstrated awareness and understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by LGBTT* individuals
 Experience in budget management
 Demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent event planning and organizational skills
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a group
Intercultural competence and understanding of diversity
Commitment to lifelong learning
Assets:
A graduate degree in a related field
 Formal training in one or more of the following areas: Program or Project Management; Intercultural Training; Adult Education; LGBTT* Training
 Experience in developing and facilitating workshops and training related to LGBTT* awareness and education
Conditions of Employment:
 Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
 This positions requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector certificate
This position may be required to work outside of regular office hours depending on operational requirements
 This position will be required to travel frequently between campuses
