Manitoba Immigrant & Refugee Settlement Sector Association (MIRSSA) Inc.

 

 

MIRSSA Inc. is seeking a fulltime Executive Director to provide leadership, programming, administration, support and evaluation services as per our mandate under the supervision of the Board of Directors.

 

Term position: July 1, 2014 – March 31, 2016

 

Internal/ External Posting

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Review MIRSSA Call for Proposals and CIC Contribution Agreement, identify action items and assist the board in accomplishing goals

·       Compile information needed for local and national meetings under the guidance of the board and its committees, and draft reports as needed

·       Prepare financial and narrative reports for CIC with the support of a bookkeeper and the board

·       Attend all membership, committee, board and executive meetings and take notes if needed

·       Review the MIRSSA Work Plan (strategic plan, 2012) and help the President and committees keep on track with action items

·       Coordinate the logistics of professional development activities and workshops for the sector under the guidance of the board.

 

Required knowledge and skills:

·       Knowledge of the settlement sector in Manitoba – immigrant serving agencies and the programs and services they provide

·       Understanding of the challenges faced by new Canadians, immigrants, refugees and temporary workers

·       Awareness of immigration policies and the impact they have on immigrants, refugees and service providing organizations

·       Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills

·       Excellent writing and document formatting skills - able to write meeting minutes, compile information, draft reports, and clearly articulate ideas using plain language

·       Well-organized, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and the internet environment

·       Website creation and document publishing experience is an asset

·       Additional language skills an asset
