Court/CommunityCaseworker (One-Year Term)

MEDIATION SERVICES:

A Community Resource for Conflict Resolution

This role is a one-year Term position. Applications are currently being accepted for acaseworker/mediator to work in the Restorative Action Centre (the court/communityprogram).

Mediation Services is a community based organization offering conflict resolution services to Manitobans since 1979.These services include comprehensive training in conflict resolution skills, and mediationfor victims/offenders,families, neighbours, and workplaces/organizations. Mediation Services offers a great working and learning environment and is looking for someone who is highly motivated, has a positive attitude and is willing to play a supportive role in the organization.

Qualifications:

Relevant post-secondary education.



 Case management experience with excellent assessment skills.

 Experience working with mediation/conferencing models within a restorative justice framework.

 Comprehensive understanding of and sensitivity to victim and offender issues.

 Knowledge of the justice system.

 Willingness to work as a team member within collaborative decision-making processes.

 Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

 Excellent organizational and time management skills.

 Assertive, with a positive attitude; self-motivated.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for assigned cases from intake to follow-up, determining and implementing appropriate Restorative Justice options.



 Work with volunteer mediators/facilitators for mediation process (including preparing and debriefing).

 Develop and maintain accurate records including file notes, communications notes, process records, and time records

 Follow-up on recommendations, monitor agreements, receive restitution payments and/or support arrangements of the agreement as appropriate

 Participate in caseworker meetings and staff meetings

 Manage cases within timelines set out by the Crown Attorney

 Report to Crown Attorneys, paralegals and Defense Counsel regarding outcome of sessions, agreements, follow up (with recommendations where appropriate)

 Other tasks as requested

Support and Accountability:This is a one-year termposition which reports to the Restorative ActionCentre Coordinator.

Salary range:$31,550-40,252per annum and is commensurate with education and experience(full benefit package after 6 months).
