Community Development Worker
Location: Central Neighbourhoods Development Corporation (CNDC)
1 year term, full-time 3 positions available to serve West Alexander, Central and Centennial
Neighbourhoods
Key Responsibilities
Identify community issues, needs and problems in the assigned community
Plan, attend and coordinate community meetings and events
related to CNDC and community programs and initiatives
Act as a facilitator to collect information and feedback from residents and community groups
to the assigned community
Participate in all agency, community, residents’ association and government meetings relevant
Enlist the cooperation of government bodies, community organizations and sponsors
Encourage community participation in events and initiatives
Help to raise public awareness of issues relevant to the community
Network to build contacts and fundraising support
Requirements
Post secondary education considered an asset
Two years experience working in a non-profit environment
Volunteer experience on a Board of Directors or community committee an asset
representative of community demographics is an asset
Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English; knowledge of an additional language
Able to conduct and facilitate meetings and consultations and to comfortably speak in public
Knowledge of government funded initiatives and programs related to community development

Community Worker (CW)

Job Profile:
Community Worker (CW) engages the identified community to bring about social
change and improve quality of life. The CW acts as a link between the community and
other stakeholders such as service providers, agencies and government.
This is a contract position for one year and is renewable subject to funding.
Reporting to the Executive Director and with input from the Executive Assistant, the
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify community issues, needs and problems in the assigned community
Plan, attend and coordinate community meetings and events
related to CNDC and community programs and initiatives
Act as a facilitator to collect information and feedback from residents and community groups
to the assigned community
Participate in all agency, community, residents’ association and government meetings relevant
Enlist the cooperation of government bodies, community organizations and sponsors
Encourage community participation in events and initiatives
Help to raise public awareness of issues relevant to the community
Network to build contacts and fundraising support
Prepare and present reports as required
Other duties are required or assigned
Accountabilities
The Community Worker is accountable for:
Working cooperatively with community members, other stakeholders and CNDC staff members
understanding their challenges and concerns, and cooperating in achieving their goals
Treating community members, stakeholders and fellow employees with respect and dignity,
Ensuring reports and paperwork are completed in a timely and efficient manner
CNDC approved budget and to an acceptable standard
Ensuring that all programs and initiatives are carried out expeditiously within the confines of the
Representing CNDC in a positive manner through professional conduct
Qualifications
Education:
