Days: The Centre is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The St. James‐Assiniboia 55+ Centre is an independently operated, charitable non-profit organization. Our mission is to encourage seniors to improve their quality of life by providing educational, recreational, health and social opportunities. We offer health services, fitness opportunities, recreational events, outings, Food and Friendship programs, volunteer opportunities, and professional health and wellness services such as foot care and massage. Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator performs the support tasks necessary to organize and deliver community-scope recreation program offerings to older active adults.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the facilitating, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of recreation, social, and educational programs offered by the St. James-Assiniboia 55+ Centre;
Serves as the point of contact for member events;
Facilitates the delivery of recreational programs through the procurement of materials and supplies, and may perform hands-on service delivery;
Responds to public inquiries and prepares necessary support documents, reports, analyses and recommendations;
Conducts market research and fee structure analysis;
Oversees the researching and organization agreements with potential instructors and service providers;
Ensures maintenance schedule of fitness equipment is met;
Assists with marketing and promotional efforts and may represent the Centre at special events such as tradeshows;
Has direct contact with the public answering inquiries, complaints, and referrals, and may supervise recreation trips.
 
Recruits and provides direction to volunteers;
May represent the Centre at conferences, media events, networking opportunities and committees;
Processes, files, and maintains records, forms and reports and ensures accuracy, timeliness and completeness of assignments;
Maintains calendar, application, fees and refunds;
Oversees the program budget for fitness, education, special events and drop in programs;
Assists with fundraising efforts of the Centre.
Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in planning and facilitating programs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Highly motivated and hardworking, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work well in a team environment.
Volunteer management experience.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong budgeting skills.
Outgoing, warm and caring.
Experience working with seniors is an asset.
