MANITOBA START|EMPLOYMENT SOLUTIONS FOR IMMIGRANTS INC. JOB DESCRIPTION JOB DEVELOPER (January, 2014) POSITION SUMMARY In consultation with the Team Leader of the Job Matching Unit and Executive Director, the Job Developer will be responsible for connecting with employers to identify work placement and training opportunities that match the skills and interests of program participants. Close monitoring and follow up of all participants is key to successfully managing a diverse caseload of clients thus, maximizing their potential to become self-sufficient contributing members of Canadian society. Due to the critical nature of this position, the Job Developer must be a self-starter, with excellent planning and time management skills and a commitment to achieving outcomes. The incumbent must possess excellent telephone and interpersonal skills with ability to overcome resistance in a tactful and professional manner. Key to this position’s effectiveness is the ability to utilize persuasive skills in conducting prospecting calls, follow up on leads and actual vacancies available within large, small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In addition, the Job Developer must have demonstrated knowledge and experience in dealing with the business sector in mining opportunities that would support the labour market integration of newcomers, demonstrating a solid understanding of business cycles and market fluctuations while supporting the work of the Job Matching Unit Team in reaching the desired outcomes. entering all outcomes in the database and preparing monthly statistical and narrative reports to attest to the results achieved; • Establishing a record system for retrieving/easy access to information pertaining to the job seekers’ occupational fields, promptly documenting results - employed, on training or actively searching for opportunities; • Gathering key information and briefing relevant project staff on common elements, especially as it relates to feedback received from employers to integrate gathered information into the preparation of job seekers. EXPECTED OUTCOMES The Job Developer will: • Complete 4,000 outbound (business to business) calls to introduce and create interest in Manitoba Start/Employment Solutions Inc. services to employers across Manitoba. • Actively target sector-specific industries and engage a broad range of employers in the recruitment and training of newcomers for workplace opportunities commensurate with their skills and experience. • Identify opportunities within industry and gather information on skill sets required to match them with those clients seeking work. • In collaboration with the Job Matching Unit, generate 20 clients’ placements per month. • Develop and submit monthly statistical reports, stating number of initiate prospecting telephone contacts, and results achieved with the responses obtained that may have led to placements and opportunities for employer engagement. • Document challenges encountered and most effective approaches utilized. • Prepare a monthly case scenario of outcomes achieved, for inclusion in the funders’ monthly reports.  We are currently looking to hire 2 full-time positions at Manitoba Start. • Mentorship Coordinator • Job Developer The job descriptions are attached for your reference.
