Jobs, Executive Director, Women's Centre Winnipeg

The North Point Douglas Women’s Centre (NPDWC) is seeking an Executive Director. 

The Executive Director leads and manages the overall operations of NPDWC and supports the Board of Directors in effectively governing the Centre.  By working closely with the volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director will establish the strategic direction of NPDWC and lead the organization in achieving its operational plans, goals and specific objectives. 

Experience and education needed for this role include:
·        a post-secondary degree in social work, psychology, sociology or an equivalent discipline;
·        specialized training in administrative and financial management (including the use of QuickBooks financial software or equivalent), especially pertaining to grants funding, budget management and the financial management of not-for-profit organizations;
·        seven to ten years of progressive responsibility managing social and/or community development programs with a focus on the social determinants of health, social justice, safety and crime/violence-prevention;
·        counselling related to the experience of violence, effective parenting, job readiness and employability skills, life skills counselling, and/or the elimination of poverty and the provision of basic human needs;
·        a history of successfully supporting volunteers and staff, especially a volunteer Board of Directors and/or volunteer committees, and volunteers or staff directly engaged in providing social services support and counselling services; 
·        the ability to produce information and facilitate communication using common technology tools (computer hardware and software, mobile communications technologies, and business machines such as copiers, printers, scanners, etc.).
