English as a Second Language Instructor (1-month term), University of Manitoba
Extended Education is currently hiring qualified ESL instructors for a 1-month term.

Position start date: Tuesday, August 6, 2013
Position end date: Friday, August 30, 2013

Teaching hours: 20 – 26 hours per week; classes run Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Location: University of Manitoba, Fort Garry campus

The responsibilities of the position include planning and delivering ESL courses in the Intensive English Program, preparing supplementary course materials, creating tests and formal assessments, and providing regular feedback to students on their progress.

Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Education degree or a combination of a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL) from a TESL Canada recognized institution. A minimum of one year teaching experience in English as a Second Language programs is required. The applicant must be familiar with ESL teaching methodology, and demonstrate an innovative and creative teaching spirit. It is essential for the applicant to be versatile and competent in teaching students at a low beginner, intermediate and advanced level of English proficiency. Also required are excellent communication skills, demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences, and demonstrated ability to work in a team-teaching environment.
