Duties: Reporting to the Manager of the Diversity and Immigrant Student Support Department, the Mentor Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of mentorship programs across campuses which support the integration of immigrant and international students into the College environment and the workplace, including: the Cultural and Language Mentorship Program; the Internationally Educated Nurses Workplace Partnership Program; and the Professional Mentorship Program for Imaging Technologists. The Coordinator is also responsible for the management of the three Diversity Scholarship areas, including: the Step-Out of Your Box Diversity Award; the Peace Award; and the Diversity Ambassadors Program. The Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of these programs across College campuses including; program planning and implementation; communications/promotional materials; partnerships with academic programs and the professional community; recruitment; applicant intake, screening, matching, selection and database management; development and delivery of orientation training sessions; program support and administration, volunteer management and stewardship; and program evaluation and reporting. The successful incumbent is expected to effectively collaborate and communicate with all areas of the College, ethno-cultural and community organizations, immigrant service agencies, and professional communities and associations. |
Qualifications: Required: An undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Business, Communications or Education. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Several years of relevant experience working with newcomers, preferably in an educational institution, social or settlement service, or community organization Experience in volunteer management, preferably as it relates to newcomer mentorship Experience in developing and facilitating workshops, training and orientation sessions, related to intercultural and diversity awareness and workplace culture Experience in marketing and event planning Demonstrated knowledge of the barriers and challenges newcomers face in both academic and workplace environments Strong planning, organizational, written oral and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a group Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced skills in Excel Intercultural competence and understanding of diversity Commitment to lifelong learning Assets: A graduate degree in a related field Formal training in one or more of the following areas: Volunteer Management, Project Management, Adult Education, Intercultural Training, and Teaching English as an Additional Language Conditions of Employment: Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada This positions requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector certificate This position may be required to work outside of regular office hours depending on operational requirements This position will be required to travel frequently between campuses Applicants are to clearly demonstrate how they satisfy the selection criteria and competition number in their written submissions. |
