Mentors/Facilitators wanted
Peer Mentors for 1-on-1 Positive Discipline in first language
Mosaic is recruiting new peer mentors for our 1-on-1 Positive Discipline in first language program. Free training provided. For more details of the 1-on-1 PD program, visit www.mosaicnet.ca/news/new-pd-program/.
Positive Discipline Training
Stage 1:
• Weekly two-hour Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting program for 8 weeks, Wed Feb 5th to Mar 26th
• Participants will be paid $30/session for participation in Stage 1 of the training
• Participants will receive the Positive Discipline parent book & workbook
• On site childcare and snack will be provided
Stage 2:
• Participants will apply for a 4-day facilitator/peer mentor training in Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting
• Timing for the training will be decided with agreement from participants
• The training will be free of charge to successful applicants
• The Facilitator Manual, workbook and an additional parent book will be provided to the training participants
• Childcare, lunches and snacks will be provided during the 4-day training
• The training will provide the participant with the skills needed to facilitate Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting groups as well as the qualifications to apply to be one-on-one peer mentors in Positive Discipline in first language.
• This training does not guarantee employment
Qualifications
• Ability to communicate in English, CLB 6 minimum
• Fluency in a language other than English
• An understanding of settlement and parenting issues and needs of the multicultural community
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Availability for all training sessions
Other Assets:
• Successful completion of Nobody’s Perfect program
• Knowledge of child development
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate parenting and/or parent-child programs
• Demonstrated interest, involvement and knowledge of community resources and programs
• Strong planning and communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively in a non-profit and volunteer based organization
• Ability to work flexible hours
