Education/Support Coordinator -ECE III

EDUCATION/SUPPORT COORDINATOR - ECE III

(1 year term position)


The Education/Support Coordinator will provide individual/group support and resources to participants in the Licensed Family Child Care Self-Employment Project.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:


Adult Education Skills: Experience and ability to facilitate learning, select and adapt appropriate resources for a diverse participant group.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written, oral and public presentation skills

Program Planning Skills: Commitment to high quality early learning and care.



Ability to analyze and assess participant’s needs, set goals, implement plans, monitor, mentor and evaluate.

QUALIFICATIONS:


- ECE III designation.

- Experience working with newcomers, new Canadians, and/or immigrants where English is an additional language.

- Knowledgeable about child care legislation; Best Practices Licensing Manual for Family and Group Child Care Homes.



- Flexible; able to work some evenings and Saturdays.

EDUCATION ASSISTANT

PART-TIME ONE YEAR TERM (.5 EFT)

The Education Assistant will provide both administrative and educational support for the Licensed Family Child Care Self-Employment project. PRIMARY DUTIES: Administrative Support:
- Collect, organize and manage participant data;
- Organize and manage files through manual and computerized systems;
- Photocopy and collate documents for distribution, mailing, and filing;
- Assist with seminar and workshop sessions;
- Provide technical assistance and support;
- Provide reception;
- Assist with class and workshop setup and cleanup.
Educational Support:
- Provide educational support and assistance;
- Collect, organize and manage participant/student data.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Related post secondary education
- Advanced computer skills
- Experience with data analysis, compilation, report preparation
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience in record keeping and filing
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexible; available to work evenings and weekends
SALARY RANGE: $25,525 - $32,411

Family Child Care Project Support Coordinator/Program Facilitator 1 Year Term With direction and supervision from the Program Manager and Child Care Resource Coordinator, the Support Coordinator/Program Facilitator will assist in developing a comprehensive curriculum to provide support and resources to program participants in becoming licensed to operate a successful, high quality family child care business in their home. Activities will include outreach/recruitment, screening, licensing application support, delivery of Family Child Care Training Course, development of modules specific to components of licensing, and ongoing mentorship of participants. Materials will be adapted and revised to simplify processes, and new approaches will be developed for diverse adult learners. SKILLS Strong project management skills including analysis, organization, ability to set and adapt priorities, time management skills, problem-solving, assessment, and evaluation skills. Job Opportunity - Immigrant Settlement Worker

NEIGHBORHOOD IMMIGRANT SETTLEMENT WORKER
Full Time - $36,981 to $46,309 annually (A private, accredited, not-for-profit agency dedicated to strengthening families
and building supportive communities)
Family Dynamics Inc. is hiring a Neighborhood Immigrant Settlement Worker. This is a five (5) month term position which will extend from October 26 to March 31, 2014 (possible extension pending funding). The Neighborhood Immigrant Settlement Worker will provide settlement assistance to newcomer families living in the Tuxedo/River Heights/Fort Rouge areas of the city. He/she will work out of the Tuxedo Family Resource Centre (Unit 1-225 Doncaster Avenue) to assist newcomer families to integrate into their community and life in Canada. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach and engagement of newcomer families within the catchment area.  Conduct comprehensive needs assessments of newcomer families.
 Provide resource information, advocacy, information and referral to community programs & services.
 Promote awareness of newcomer issues within the broader community.
 Organize and facilitate events and programs in response to identified community needs, i.e. English Conversation Circles, citizenship tutoring, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 2 years related experience.  Well developed interpersonal and problem solving skills.
 Understanding of the settlement process and issues related to the immigrant/refugee experience.
 Ability to engage families and provide emotional support.
 Ability to work flexible hours; some evening work required.
 Ability to keep accurate records and write reports.
 Successful completion of Child Abuse & Criminal Records Checks.
 Valid driver’s license & car an asset.

We are seeking a qualified NEWCOMER SUPPORT/CASE COORDINATOR The Coordinator will provide case management and service coordination for refugees facing multiple barriers in their resettlement. RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide comprehensive assessment, service plan development, facilitated referrals, advocacy, linkages to community resources, coordination of services, and follow up for high-needs refugee families and individuals.
