UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA FACULTY ASSOCIATION Executive Director University of Manitoba Faculty Association The University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. The Association which represents over 1250 full-time academic staff has been a certified union since 1974. Reporting to the Executive Council, the Executive Director acts as policy advisor, consultant, and resource person to the president and other association officers. He or she is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Association, and for communication with Association Members. The successful candidate will have a university degree, outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form, an understanding of the academic environment, and a commitment to the principles of equity and fairness in a unionized environment. KCC is a national patient-led and patient-focused organization focused on the needs of kidney cancer patients, their caregivers, and on health care professionals working with both patients and caregivers, and serving a widely diverse community. KCC’s mission is to improve the lives of those affected by kidney cancer across Canada by advocating for access to new treatments, promoting research and providing support, information and education. It works closely with the Kidney Cancer Research Network of Canada, Kidney Cancer Canada Nurses’ Network, and with a network of sponsors and partners. Over the past seven years this dynamic organization has grown from two founding patients to now engage more than 2,500 patients, caregivers, and medical professions. KCC has been described by professionals, both nationally and internationally, as a model of what a patient-led organization can achieve.
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all of KCC's operations, including staff management (one full-time, one part-time), fundraising and financial management (a bookkeeper is maintained under contract), operations – including patient education events, advocacy, program delivery and board development. The ED ensures that KCC operates in a professional manner, meets the goals and obligations as set out by the Board, and continues to grow and expand as a viable not-for-profit organization. The ideal candidate has 5 years experience in non-profit management and fundraising; government relations and advocacy, excellent relationship and management skills; deep knowledge and experience in non-profit development and sustainability; excellent administration skills, including accounting, budgeting, planning, and staff management, with careful attention to detail; and strong leadership skills. The incumbent will work from a virtual office and should reside in the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, or Montreal. Bilingual ability is an asset.

Rita Chahal new Executive Director of Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council

Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (MIIC) board chair Rev Peter Flynn is pleased to announce that Rita Chahal has been appointed Executive Director of MIIC / Welcome Place.
With recent policy and funding changes to Canada's commitment to immigrants and refugees at the Provincial and Federal levels, Flynn said that “MIIC is delighted to take advantage of Rita’s combined not-for-profit and business leadership experience to help us reach the next level of MIIC’s growth and sustainability”.
Prior to her current appointment and for the past four and a half years, Rita has served in the elite position as General Manager of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce where she worked closely with the business community across Manitoba. Earlier in her career, Rita was the Executive Director of the Women in Media Foundation and Executive Director of Employment Projects of Winnipeg, where she got first hand understanding and insight into the issues, opportunities and challenges that refugees and new immigrants face when they arrive in Manitoba. Her community service includes taking a leadership position on a number of boards and advisory committees over her career. She currently serves on the board of a crown corporation, Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation.
