DESCRIPTION:
*Primary office is 2735 Pembina Hwy May be required to work in other Community Areas.
The Home Care Program helps individuals remain in the familiar environment of their own home by providing health services or assistance with activities of daily living.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Client supervision, household maintenance, laundry and meal planning/preparation.
  • Follows protocol for routine practice and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Organizes work according to client needs and assigned tasks.
  • Maintains accountability by working with program guidelines, and observing and reporting changes in client conditions to the Resource Coordinator, and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Complete and submits timesheets, mileage reports and other documentation as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires experience in client supervision, meal preparation housekeeping and laundry services.
  • *Valid driver's license and vehicle required in order to make home visits to various clients in the community.*
  • Ability to travel between assignments in the community area to several private homes of clients within Winnipeg and surrounding areas and to adapt to changes in scheduling on short notice required.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills required.
  • Recent experience working with the elderly and/or physically disabled an asset.
  • Ability to work independently in a community setting and function as a team member.
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Casual Support Worker

Support Worker (Casual) Supported Apartment Living Program The Supported Apartment Living Program (S.A.L.) is one of the many programs offered by New Directions. S.A.L. is now accepting applications for Casual Support Workers to support individuals with an intellectual disability and/or mental health barriers. Successful applicants must have the following education, skills and abilities: • Experience working with people with disabilities • Experience working with people who are in conflict with the justice system • Experience working with people with mental health barriers • High School Diploma or equivalent • Have or be willing to obtain First Aid (Emergency Level) • Effective problem solving ability • Strong communication skills • The ability to work independently and as a part of a team • Have or be willing to obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate • Knowledge of FASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personalities, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder would be an asset. Job responsibilities include supporting individuals through empowering them to engage in independent living, including support to find housing, apartment management, grocery shopping, budgeting, access to medical care and community resources.
