Adult EAL Program Co-ordinator

McLeod Education Centre 14 hours per week - including Monday and Wednesday evenings
**Term effective ASAP-June 27/14 and Aug. 25/14-Dec. 19/14
**With the possibility of extension
Adult EAL classes are offered four afternoons and two evenings each week at the McLeod Education Centre. A part-time co-ordinator is required to undertake the following responsibilities:
Receive referrals, contact new students and update files on an ongoing basis
Respond to telephone and in-person enquiries regarding all aspects of EAL programming
Prepare and distribute program information and publicity materials
Compile and maintain class lists
CIC iCare database entry
Co-ordinate and participate in regular program meetings
Prepare program reports
Provide administrative and other support to teachers as necessary
Represent the program at external EAL meetings as required
Recruit and liaise with classroom volunteers
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
Post-secondary course work in a related field would be an asset
Prior experience working with adult EAL learners
Proven competency in efficient use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access
Familiarity with EAL strategies and benchmark levels
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including intercultural competencies
Ability to prepare reports appropriate for submission at the divisional and government level

Rate of pay: $30.00 per hour
